Up until this point, Freddie Prinze Jr. has starred in a number of iconic movies that have been associated with the Halloween season. Not only was he a lead in the ’97 slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer (and its sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer), but he also played Fred Jones in the live-action Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. However, it seems that now Prinze is ready to trade in the scares for some holiday cheer.
The She's All That actor is starring in an upcoming Netflix film, titled Christmas with You, and the streaming service just dropped the first trailer. Check it out below.
The movie follows a pop star named Angelina (played by Aimee Garcia), who struggles with burnout when her record label demands that she record a Christmas song for the holiday season. So, in an effort to revitalize her life, Angelina seeks out a young fan who says that her Christmas wish is to meet the star.
However, Angelina is totally caught off guard when she meets the young fan's father, Miguel (Prinze Jr.), and her creativity gets totally rejuvenated (and sparks begin to fly).
“I really think this could be the one,” Garcia's character says to her agent, Monique (Zenzi Williams), in the trailer. To which Monique jokingly responds, “The song? Or the music teacher?”
The upcoming Netflix film was directed by Gabriela Tagliavini, who has directed movies such as Despite Everything (2019) and Without Men (2011).
Christmas with You also stars Gabriel Sloyer (Inventing Anna), Grace Dumdaw (The Watcher), Deja Monique Cruz (Law & Order: SVU), Helena Betancourt (Orange Is the New Black), Lawrence J. Hughes (Mike), Matthew Grimaldi (The Sleepover) and more.
The holiday title is set to hit Netflix on November 17, which will give us plenty of time to enjoy it all throughout the festive season.
